My gripe with the movie is not because it has women spewing abuses. Then there are panned movies that I actually enjoyed like Aisha or Jagga Jasoos. Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set to make her comeback into films post her pregnancy through this film.
So far, 4916 users have voted for the film on IMDb and ratings are this low. This has been made abundantly clear by the cast and crew and that is fine. He proposes to her and she is shocked. Okay so here I begin. Met 10 June 2018. Each with a damned personal life and trying to get away from it.
And chances are either could be a hit or flop. It doesn't matter how much you try to resist and want to watch you will get free headache.
Despite great box office run and reviews, Kareena Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding has shockingly low rating on IMDb - Kareena excels in her role as a girl trying to find her own answers and coming to terms with the idea of marriage. And Veere is not even fun, not even close.
Sex in the City is an iconic show that deals with female companionship and camaraderie. There is no doubt in my mind that was inspired by the characters and theme of this legendary TV show. The girls have distinct personalities, likes, dislikes and mannerisms that define them. Meera is married to a firang and has a child, Sakshi is a rich spoilt brat who is unapologetic about her alcohol and smoking addiction while Avni is a headstrong career driven woman who is unable to find the right suitor. The focus of Veere Di Wedding is very much on the chemistry between these girls and their friendship. It is a good looking film with an interesting ensemble of actors. Kareena Kapoor Khan leads the pack being the most senior, and her Kalindi act is definitely one of the major highlights of the film. She lights up the frame in every scene reminding us how much we miss her at the movies. Her intense scenes with Sumeet in the second half give her a chance to go beyond being the glamorous Bebo. Sonam seems completely at ease with her role as the husband searching Avni. Swara gets the most popular character with the boldest lines and scenes and she goes for the kill every time. Shikha is a total natural and her effervescence is infectious. Also as Rishab, Sumeet Vyas deserves full marks for playing his character with full conviction and also managing to create that chemistry and comfort with Kareena. There are several jokes and one liners written keeping the female audience in mind. Veere does push the envelope and take the risk of going into a direction a lot of filmmakers would be hesitant to dive into. The makers have also made the sexual commentary and jokes feel organic and not forced. It feels a bit sketchy in the first half and then too stretched towards the climax. The last few scenes with Kareena and her friends could have been easily trimmed down. Product placements pop out of nowhere and distract you from an ongoing scene. We wish there was more of a back story to the other girls as much as we got for Kalindi.
